Dawn Chorus in Woodstock and Jenkinstown
Birdwatch Irelands Kilkenny Branch have organised an outing to Woodstock, Inistioge on Monday 7th May @5am to hear the dawn chorus. Meet in Woodstock carpark.
Their annual Dawn Chorus outing will take place on Sunday, 13th May in Jenkinstown Wood, Kilkenny. Meet in the carpark of the wood @ 4.30am.  Further details contact Mary or Pat Durkin @ 056-7762130.

An Taisce’s Biodiversity Walks
To celebrate biodiversity week in May (19th-27th) An Taisce have organised two walks that focus on Woodlands and Hedgerows.
Jenkinstown Wood on Thursday 17th May @ 6.30pm will look at the fragrant bluebells and associated spring flowers to be found in the wood. Meet at the carpark in the wood.
Mothel Lane (near Dunmore Caves) Saturday May 19th @ 11am, will look at the fragility of hedgerows in this area which is rich in heritage. It will include a visit to the medieval site of the old church/graveyard and the ancient Rath. Meet at Mothel Graveyard & Ball Alley. All are welcome. South Kilkenny Historical Society
South Kilkenny Historical Society have organised a coach trip to Dublin on Saturday 26th May to visit  The Little Museum of Dublin and EPIC – The Irish Emigration Museum (the world’s first fully digital museum) finishing with an evening meal at Wynns Hotel, Dublin. Bealtaine Festival 2018
Rediscover your local library with a wide and varied programme of over 60 FREE events which is hoped will inspire the people of Kilkenny to actively participate, explore their creative side, develop skills and experience a rich creative life. This programme of Age Friendly events is taking place across all of the library branches as well as other local venues as part of Bealtaine and is supported by Creative Ireland. Kilkenny County Development Plan 2020-2026 – Public Consultation
Kilkenny County Council is reviewing both the Kilkenny County Development Plan and  Kilkenny City and Environs Development Plan 2014-2020 and preparing a single consolidated plan for 2020-2026. Public Information Evenings will take place on the following evenings:

Wednesday 16th May @ 7.30pm  Mullinavat Community Centre, Mullinavat

Governance Training Sessions for community groups
The Kilkenny Public Participation Network have developed a basic governance pack for small community groups and are providing free training around the county to accompany this – suitable for small voluntary organisations such as residents associations, tidy town groups etc.  The training will take place on the following evenings.

National Landscape Forum 2018 – “Irelands Waterscapes”
The 2018 National Landscape Forum, which will be hosted by the community of Killaloe, Co. Clare, will take place on 24th-25th May. This forum, on ‘Ireland’s Waterscapes’, will be convened by Ruth Minogue and launched by Martin Colreavy, Dept. of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. Planning and Understanding Changing Waterscapes, Walking tour of Killaloe Town and a ‘Go Green’ guided walk of Clarisford Park are just a few of the items planned for this year’s forum.
