Contribute to Ireland’s new heritage policy
What is our heritage? Why is it important? What could be done to better protect and promote it? The Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht is developing a new heritage policy called ‘Heritage Ireland 2030’.  The Heritage Council is holding a consultation meeting on Wed 13th February from 6.30pm -9pm in the Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny.  Everyone with an interest in Kilkenny’s heritage is welcome. Adopt a Monument Grant Scheme
Is there a much loved monument in your area that you would like to learn more about? The Heritage Council seek applications from community groups across Ireland for its Adopt a Monument scheme. A monument could be a ringfort, lime kiln, sites associated with the travelling community or modern sites. Closing date: 28th February 2019. Are you interested in Honey Bees?
Did you know that Ireland has its own native Irish honey bee? The Native Irish Honey Bee Society will host its annual conference and AGM, titled ‘Protecting our Native Honey Bee Heritage’ on 1st & 2nd March in the Athlone Springs Hotel, Athlone. Talks on honeybee health and wellbeing, research projects and on breeding disease resistant honey bees are just a few of the interesting items for discussion at this conference. Water Environment Conference 2019
The Chartered Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management will host their 2019 Irish Conference titled Wading into Water: The assessment and management of our aquatic environment, on Thursday 28th February at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone.  This conference will provide forward thinking, practical advice and best practice examples, giving the attendees an opportunity to learn and take useful information into their work.
