Kilkenny Heritage Week Launched

Kilkenny Heritage Week was officially launched in the summer sunshine by Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Cllr Matt Doran, Kilkenny City Mayor Cllr. Patrick O’Neill and staff of Kilkenny County Council and the Heritage Council.

Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Cllr Matt Doran urged everyone to “check out the County Event Guide, take advantage of the wide variety of events and enjoy our counties people and places.”

National Heritage Week 2016

Event Registration is now open for National Heritage Week 2016.

Registration for the printed guide will close on 10 June. The printed guide is distributed across Ireland to OPW sites, museums, libraries, local authorities and tourist offices. Registration for the website listings will stay open until 19 August.

This year the Heritage Council has chosen the theme 100 Years of Heritage for National Heritage Week. The focus will be on how people make places and what that has meant for Ireland’s built, natural and cultural heritage over the last 100 years.

National Heritage Week runs from 20-28 August 2016.
