On Friday 27th may 2016 the Heritage Council along with the Department of Regional Development, Rural Affairs, Arts and the Gaeltacht announced €800,000 in funding for 171 heritage projects across Ireland through their 2016 commun8ity based Heritage grant scheme.

In Kilkenny alone a total of 8 projects were successful resulting in a total funding of €45,000, these projects were carried out across Kilkenny including Ballyhale, Callan, Kells, Kilkenny City and Jerpoint.
