Have you seen squirrels or pine martens? We need your help
NUI Galway researchers, with colleagues in Ulster Wildlife and The Vincent Wildlife Trust, need your help with their 2019 Squirrel and Pine Marten survey which aims to find out where there are populations of red squirrels, grey squirrels and pine martens on the island of Ireland.  Members of the public are invited to submit their sighting of the three species to the National Biodiversity Data Centre’s citizen science portal at www.biodiversityireland.ie

Library Lecture Series
Kilkenny City Library will host a lecture titled ‘The Flying Column West Kilkenny, 1916-1921’, with speaker Jim Maher, author and historian, on Tuesday 5th November @6.30pm in the City Library. Spanish Flu talk
The Home Rule Club continue their lecture series with a lecture titled ‘Spanish Flu’ with speaker Dr. Ida Milne, historian and author, on Wednesday 6th November @ 8.30pm in the Home Rule Club, John’s Quay, Kilkenny. The Spanish Flu had a devastating impact in Kilkenny.  Admission: €5. Refreshments served.  All are welcome.

The Irish War of Independence lecture
Kilkenny Archaeological Society will host a lecture titled ‘The Irish War of Independence’ with Owen Swithin-Walsh, author and historian, on Wednesday 13th November from 8-10pm in Rothe House, Parliament St, Kilkenny. Creative Europe Culture Application Workshop

€4.7m Capital Investment Scheme announced for Arts & Culture Centres
Minister Madigan has announced a new €4.7m capital investment scheme for arts and culture centres to run from 2019-2022 which will focus on enhancing the existing stock of arts and culture centres throughout the country.  Applications will be under three separate Streams; Stream A will offer grants up to €50k for small enhancement/expansion/refurbishments projects; Stream B will offer grants from €50k up to €300k for larger enhancement/expansion/refurbishment projects and Stream C will be a separate scheme aimed at the upgrading of visual artists’ workspaces. Application for this Stream will be invited separately. Application will open on Friday 25th October and close on 7th January 2020.
