Make your own bird, bat and barn owl boxes
Birdwatch Ireland, with co-funding from the Local Authority Heritage Officer Network, have produced three new How to Guides to make boxes for garden birds, bats and barn owls. Royal Irish Academy grant schemes open for applications
The Royal Irish Academy, in partnership with the National Monuments Service, have opened their annual Archaeology Research Grant Scheme and welcome applications which focuses on research that might provide an original contribution to archaeological knowledge. They have also partnered with the National Monuments Service to support a new grant scheme titled Archaeology Legacy Grants which supports post-excavation research for Archaeological Research Excavations previously funded by the RIA. Tidy Towns newsletter – Issue 2 2021
The TidyTowns office have issued their 2nd newsletter for 2021 with updates from Glounthaune, Clonmellon and Ballyheigue Tidy Town groups, an update on the 1st phase of the All Ireland Pollinator Plan 2015-2020 and tips to help your group on entering the Local Authority Pollinator 2021 competition. New Heritage Council booklet
The Heritage Council have produced a new booklet titled Public Engagement during works to Traditional Buildings to help all those involved in the conservation, restoration or modification of historic buildings to train, educate or energise the public as to the importance of traditional buildings and traditional building skills. Building owners, contractors, tradespeople and community groups should find this publication useful to help engage the public with conservation skills once restrictions allow. Kilkenny County Council Decade of Centenaries Grant Scheme 2021 have a callout for applications. This scheme encourages projects which recognise all of the dimensions of this period in our history – the military activity, the political context, and social, economic and cultural aspects and legacies. Wolfwalkers Exhibition online talks – time change

Decade of Centenaries new Artist-in-Residence Programme
Minister Martin recently announced a new Artist-in-Residence scheme to create new works to encourage public engagement with the Decade of Centenaries and institutions. The partners involved in this programme are the National Museum of Ireland, the National Library of Ireland, the National Archives, the Beyond 2022 Project and the Military Archives as part of the Decade of Centenaries Programme 2021-2023. Closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm Friday 19th March 2021.
