Heritage and Biodiversity Actions for Climate – A new webinar series
The Local Authority Heritage Officers Network new webinar series on Climate Action will continue on 3rd February from 9.30-10.30am with talks on “Wetlands, Community and Climate”. You will hear about positive actions for climate from the heritage sector. The series is supported by the local authorities, City and County Managers Association and the Heritage Council. The themes of the other webinars are – Nature-based solutions for Climate; People, Heritage and Climate. World Wetlands Day outing to Newpark Fen
Birdwatch Ireland Kilkenny Branch have organised an outing to Newpark Fen on Saturday 5th February @10am (meet at Newpark Fen) to celebrate World Wetlands Day. Biodiversity Walks and Talks
Norevision will host a series of Biodiversity Walks in Kilkenny and Laois to connect people to each other and the River Nore. Led by ecologists and well-known personalities, they will share their knowledge as you explore the river and its surroundings. The first Kilkenny walk, facilitated by Éanna Ní Lamhna, will take place on Saturday 12th Feb @2.30pm. Graveyard Grant Scheme 2022 open for applications
The Kilkenny County Council Graveyard Grant Scheme 2022 is now open for applications to assist Community Groups/Organisations in the management and maintenance of local graveyards. Community Activities Grant Scheme 2022 open for applications
The Kilkenny County Council Community Activities Grant Scheme 2022 is now open for application to provide funding to support community groups across Kilkenny. Locally based community and voluntary groups in disadvantaged urban and rural areas and not for profit organisations are eligible to apply for this funding scheme. Burning the Big House online lecture series
The Centre for the Study of Historic Irish Houses and Estates, Maynooth University, supported by the Department under the Historical Strand of the Decade of Centenaries programme, will host a series of online lectures titled Burning the Big House every Thursday @7pm from 24th March – 19th May 2022 and runs in tandem with the exhibition Burning the High House: The Story of the Irish Country House in Revolution 1920 -23. Biodiversity in Schools have partnered with Applegreen for an exciting new ‘BioDive’ competition. Applegreen are offering primary schools throughout Ireland the opportunity to win an amazing €10,000 for the creation of a biodiversity garden at their school – assisted by Biodiversity in Schools.
