Become the ultimate Master Lego Builder
The OPW Kilkenny Castle will host a series of Bricks4Kidz STEM based workshops at the Parade Tower, Kilkenny Castle on Saturday 16th April as part of Tech Week.  The children will travel back in time to the Middle Ages and learn all about the Catapult and will then build their very own Lego Technic (robotic) Catapult model. They will roll out a separate workshop for Junior & Senior Infants where they will build 2D and 3D themed Lego models. Laois Festival of Flight
The Laois Festival of Flight, celebrating the rich history of aviation and exploration in Laois, will take place from Thursday 7th – Sunday 10th April 2022 with a full programme of music events, arts and science workshops, history talks and films. The Role of Women in Medieval Ireland
OPW Kilkenny Castle, in partnership with New Ross Needlecraft Ltd (Board of the Ros Tapestry) will host a lecture titled The Role of Women in Medieval Ireland on 7th April @7.30pm (Tapestry viewing @7pm) and will examine the lesser known role of women in Medieval Ireland, some of whom are depicted in The Marriage of Isabel de Clare and William Marshal panel.  Free event but registration is required.  Further details at

Inside the Railings
The Decade of Centenaries programme, in partnership with the Beyond 2022 Research Programme, the National Archives of Ireland and the Court Services of Ireland, will host an online event titled Inside the Railings: A Portrait of Life within the Public Record Office of Ireland, on Thursday 14th April from 7-8.30pm.   It includes an evening of readings and pictures, live-streamed from the Appeal Court, the Four Courts, marking the centenary of the occupation of the Four Courts in April 1922. Praeger Grants Scheme in Natural History open for applications
The Royal Irish Academy (RIA) have announced the opening of applications for their Praeger Grants Scheme in Natural History which encourages the promotion of field study of Ireland’s geology, flora and fauna.
