Virtual Tour of Castlecomer Museum of Mining
Castlecomer Discovery Park have developed a new virtual tour of the mining museum which is available to download as a free app from your Play/Apple Store. The project was funded under the Heritage Council’s Community Heritage Grant Scheme. Cruinniú na nÓg Cabinet of Curiosities events
Kilkenny Arts Office will host a series of creative workshops between now and June 2022 to celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg, the national day of creativity for children funded by the Kilkenny Creative Ireland Programme. The aim is to gather and create artwork and curious things collected and made by children to exhibit in a purpose-built Cabinet of Curiosities for this special day on 11th June. The 1922 Siege of Kilkenny Castle talk
OPW Kilkenny Castle will mark the centenary anniversary of the siege of Kilkenny Castle in 1922 with a talk by Eamonn Kiely, retired army Commandant and former guide with Kilkenny Castle, on Saturday 30th April @3pm in the Parade Tower. Eamonn will relate the events that took place during the siege of Kilkenny Castle and around the city. Free event but registration is required. Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee TD recently launched the justice sector programme of commemorative events for 2022-2024 as part of the Decade of Centenaries Programme.
