Kilkenny Heritage Week – still lots to see and do
We are near the end of Heritage Week 2022 with lots more still to do. There is Poetry and a Safari on the River Barrow, a BioBlitz in Castlecomer Discovery Park, a Heritage Tour in Jerpoint Park, a talk on Castlecomer Workhouse and an archaeological walk on Brandon Hill to name a few events. KCLR’s New History Programme Launched for Heritage Week
KCLR has announced details of a new 10-part weekly history series (The History Show) with the first edition being aired on Tuesday 23rd Aug @6.10pm. The series will look at 1922 in Kilkenny from the perspective of local historians, academics and artists. It will explore the lives of ordinary people in Kilkenny at that time, as well as the people that shaped Kilkenny’s and Irelands history, and the key events that took place in the county. The series is sponsored by the Heritage Office of Kilkenny County Council, under the Council’s Decade of Centenaries Programme, funded by the National Commemorations Unit of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.

A Magic, Moving, Living Thing

Sustainable Living Workshops

Heritage Council positions opened for applications
The Heritage Council have opened applications for the positions of Grants Manager, Heritage Week Programme Manager, Head of Heritage & Climate Change and Clerical Officers. Closing date for receipt of applications is Sunday 4th September 2022.  Further details/applications criteria available at

Kilkenny Castle Lost Gatehouse lecture
The OPW Kilkenny Castle will host a lecture titled Excavating the Lost Gatehouse of Kilkenny Castle, with archaeologist Cóilin Ó’Drisceoil, National Monuments Service, on Saturday 24th September from 3 – 3.45pm.
