Community Monuments Fund 2023 – reminder
The Community Monuments Fund grant applications will close on 1st February 2023. This grant scheme is for the conservation, maintenance, protection and promotion of archaeological monuments and is funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. Community Heritage Grant Scheme 2023
The Heritage Council, with an allocation of €1.5 million, have an open call for the 2023 Community Heritage Grant Scheme 2023 which is open to voluntary and community groups, NGO’s and Adopt a Monument participants. World Wetlands Day outing to Newpark Fen
Birdwatch Ireland Kilkenny Branch have organised an outing to Newpark Fen on Saturday 4th February @10am (meet at Newpark Fen) to celebrate World Wetlands Day. It will follow the path around the marsh and point out the various species of birds that are seen and heard, identify bird calls and song and some plants along the route. Please wear suitable hiking boots and warm waterproof clothing in case of inclement weather. Email patandmarydurkin@gmail.com for further details.

Family at War: The Hales Brothers and the Irish Revolution Lecture
South Kilkenny Historical Society will host a lecture, on zoom, titled Family at War: The Hales Brothers and the Irish Revolution, a talk by historian and author, Liz Gillis. Decade of Centenaries Markievicz Award Bursary 2023
Minister Catherine Martin recently announced that the Decade of Centenaries Markievicz Award Artists Bursary Scheme 2023 opened for online applications via the Arts Council’s artists portal on Tuesday 17th January and will close at 5.30pm, Thurs 16th February. Awards to the value of €25,000 will be made to 10 artists (either individually, in collaboration or groups). Further details available at https://www.artscouncil.ie/Funds/Markievicz-Award/
