Decade of Centenaries Grant Scheme 2023 – reminder

Heritage Council Our Place in Time new strategic plan launched
The Heritage Council recently launched their new strategic Plan 2023-2028 and for the first time Ireland will have an evidence base through which to evaluate the contribution of heritage to Irish society and its economy. European Cultures Together Conference
Twilight Community Group Kilkenny are involved in the European Cultures Together Conference which takes place on Thursday 16th March in the Newpark Hotel with a programme that includes workshops, Art and Drama performances, guest speakers and cultural events from across the globe! Bricks 4 Kidz Workshops
OPW Kilkenny Castle will host a series of FREE STEM based workshops to mark Engineers Week 2023. The theme of the workshops is the trebuchet which is a simple mechanism that flings objects through the air, similar to a catapult. Each workshop is school age specific and includes a presentation and discussion about the trebuchet, followed by the build itself.  A separate workshop for younger children will consist of an array of 3D Lego Models related to our everyday environment. The workshops will take place on Sunday 5th March from 10am – 5.30pm (4 workshops).  Free but booking is essential as places are limited. Royal Irish Academy Decade of Centenaries Bursary 2023 open for applications
The Royal Irish Academy have opened their Decade of Centenaries Bursary for 2023, which is dedicated to the memory of the late Dr Éamon Phoenix, as part of the commemorative programme for the final phase of the Decade of Centenaries.  This bursary aims to encourage new local research and local history studies (local, national and regional) as a means of recognising the significant contribution of local historians in furthering fields of study relating to the struggle for independence and the civil war period within their communities.  Closing date for online applications is 5th April 2023.  To read the grant guidelines and for online application forms go to Decade of Centenaries Bursary | Royal Irish Academy (ria.ie)
