Kilkenny County Council would like to hear your views on nature, listen to your ideas on how we should be addressing biodiversity loss and what actions you think are needed to record, protect, conserve and restore biodiversity. A Biodiversity Action Plan is being prepared for Kilkenny in partnership with the Heritage Council. Its aim is to record, conserve and restore biodiversity. To start the preparation process, a Biodiversity Discussion Paper has been prepared, to give an opportunity to hear your views on nature, listen to your ideas on how we should be addressing biodiversity loss and what actions you think are need to record, conserve and restore biodiversity in Kilkenny.

Submissions are invited until the 28th of May, submissions can be made in writing to Biodiversity Officer, C/O Heritage Office, Patrick’s Court, Patrick Street, Kilkenny City, R95 N28F, by email biodiversity@kilkennycoco.ie or online via Kilkenny County Councils public consultation portal; https://consult.kilkenny.ie/.
Submission will be reviewed, the collation of biodiversity data relating to Kilkenny will be completed leading to a draft Biodiversity Action Plan with the assistance of a Biodiversity Working Group with members representing different stakeholders including farming, community, state agencies and local biodiversity experts. A draft Biodiversity Action Plan, will go on public display with an additional public consultation period during the summer. The draft plan will be very specific on key actions required, do not miss your opportunity to have your say on how we should be recording, protecting, conserving and restoring biodiversity in Kilkenny.
