Kilkenny Projects receive funding from Heritage Council Grants Scheme

Seven projects in County Kilkenny have received funding from the Heritage Council’s 2015 Community-based Heritage Grants Scheme.  According to Conor Newman, Heritage Council Chairman these projects “contribute to local economies, improve our tourism product and allow people to be involved and contribute to their places”.

The successful projects are:

Graiguenamanagh Historical Society and Freshford Old graveyard Group both received funding for heritage interpretation signage;

Tullahought Community Development received funding for promotion of Heritage Week events;

Kells Union of Parishes received funding for conservation works to the Priory;

Coilin O’Drisceoil received funding to develop a digital 3D model of medieval Kilkenny;

Kilkenny Archives Co. received funding for work on the Political Papers of Ms. Margaret Tynan, former Mayor of Kilkenny;

Kilkenny Archaeological Society Library received funding to create an inventory of Kilkenny Archaeological Society’s archival collections.
