Ennisnag Graveyard

Historic graveyards are sacred and are the resting places of our ancestors. They also contain aspects of our built, natural and cultural heritage and many are protected by legislation.

As well as old church buildings, gravestones and crypts, graveyards can be important places for nature and sometimes they can host rare plants not commonly found anymore while also providing refuge for wildlife, such as bats, birds and owls.

For all these elements to co-exist any works on historic graveyards need to be planned with care.
