Kilkenny County Council adopts Pollinator Plan and Bumblebee
Kilkenny County Council members adopted the All Ireland Pollinator Plan and the Bumblebee as an emblem. Mary Mulholland, Director of Services outlined how Kilkenny County Council will work to develop pollinator friendly practices where possible to provide sustainable habitats for our Bees to ensure that they can thrive into the years ahead supporting food production and a healthy environment You too can help whether you plough a field, have a garden or a window box. Seven Soldiers, Seven Stories
Kilkenny’s Great War memorial will host events re-remembering the lives of seven Kilkenny soldiers and nurses who served and were lost in WWI over 100 years ago.
Free Guided Tours
St. Mary’s Collegiate Church Gowran will have free guided tours. Meet some of its oldest residents, take a selfie with a knight and hear about the interesting people who lived and died in Gowran.
From Kilmaganny to Kolwezi
Kilkenny Library Service will host an event where retired soldier and Kilmoganny native, Derry Noonan, will discuss his book about his tours of the Congo and his many interesting journeys

St. Lachtain’s Church & Arts Centre, Freshford
St Lachtain’s Church has opened a visitor centre which includes a shop supporting local arts and crafts. It is open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11.30am to 4pm during June, July and August.
On 24th August @ 8pm St. Lachtain’s will host a launch of the book, Friggers Alley, a collection of stories, songs and poems of Freshford compiled by Ned Kennedy. Preceding the book launch, a lecture will be delivered, titled A History of Entertainment in Freshford. Drought reveals Landscape secrets
The recent discovery of a large henge-like enclosure within the Brú na Bóinne UNESCO World Heritage Site at Newgrange garnered worldwide media interest – it is a remarkable discovery within an already phenomenally rich archaeological landscape.
