Community Environment Action Fund 2019
The Community Environment Action Fund, previously known as the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund, is now seeking applications.  Priority will be given to Climate Change and Biodiversity projects this year. Kilkenny County Council welcomes small to medium sized community project proposals from schools, tidy town groups, community development associations, youth groups or any group with an interest in completing an environment themed project or activity. Seán Hogan’s rescue at Knocklong station talk
The Home Rule Club will host a talk titled ‘The rescue of Seán Hogan at the station of Knocklong – a sequel to Soloheadbeg’ on Wednesday 18th Sept @ 8.30pm in the Home Rule Club, John’s Quay, Kilkenny with speaker Jim Maher, historian and author of three historical books. Kilkenny Golf Courses can help our Pollinators
The Heritage Office of Kilkenny County Council has distributed a new guide titled Pollinator-friendly management of Golf Courses to all the golf and pitch and putt courses in County Kilkenny. National Parks & Wildlife Service summary report published
The National Parks & Wildlife Service (NPWS) have published a summary report which provides an overview of Ireland’s 3rd assessment on the status of EU-listed habitats and species which was submitted to the European Commission in April 2019. Minister Madigan says the report highlights the challenges to conserve biodiversity in Ireland and the need for all sectors of society to work together to address it. Working with water and biodiversity – A Guide for Community Groups
The Local Authorities Water Programme has published a booklet titled A Guide for Community Groups – Working with Water and Biodiversity. This booklet provides information and advice, for local community groups, re funding for water and biodiversity projects. Copies of this booklet can be obtained from Ann Phelan, Community Water Officer in Kilkenny.
