Help the Hedgehogs

Help the Hedgehogs
The Heritage Office of Kilkenny County Council is supporting the Irish Hedgehog Survey (run by Elaine O’Riordan, NUI Galway) and we are looking for volunteers to help record hedgehogs in Co. Kilkenny this summer. There are three ways to take part:

  1. Record your sightings whenever you see a hedgehog https://records.biodiversityireland.ie/record/hedgehog-survey#7/53.455/-8.016
  2. Survey your garden for hedgehogs or complete the garden hedgehog questionnaire if you have hedgehogs in your garden https://www.irishhedgehogsurvey.com/garden-hedgehog-survey
  3. Take part in the Local Area Survey where you survey a 1km area for hedgehogs over 5 days using footprint tunnels.

There are no special skills required – everyone is welcome to take part. If you are interested in taking part in the Garden or Local Area Survey, please sign up for one of the workshops on Wed 18th or Wed 25th May at 7.30 pm via Zoom (see below). The workshops will last about 1 hour 15 minutes.

You only need to attend one workshop – the same training will be covered in each one. You can register via the links below and the meeting link will be emailed to you automatically. Please check your spam/junk mail folder if you do not see it in your inbox!
