“Let’s Team Up to Clean Up, Together for Kilkenny”
Kilkenny County Council Environment section is looking for local communities to come out in force to litter pick over the weekend 24th & 25th March. All types of groups are welcome to participate in this event and a special incentive is being offered for early registration as sports clubs, schools, residents associations, community groups and workplaces who register before the 10th February will be entered intro a draw for five cash prizes of €250. This initiative is financially supported by the John O’Shea Trust, Dawn Meats, Panda, PRL, Glanbia Plc and Tirlán. Stories from the Waterside zoom event
The Local Authority Waters Programme will celebrate Ireland’s Magical Waters, for World Wetlands Day, with an informal zoom event titled Stories from the Waterside on Thursday 2nd February @7.30pm with stories about water, wildlife and wetlands. Community Event Grants scheme open for applications
The Kilkenny County Council Community Event Grants scheme is now open for applications and will assist community event organisers with the development, promotion and the running of small-scale community events in Kilkenny during 2023. The emphasis of the scheme is on providing funding for community events that encourages local engagement. Closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm Friday 24th February 2023. Irish Georgian Society 2023 Conservation Grants Programme
The Irish Georgian Society have opened for applications for their 2023 Conservation Grants Programme. Structures of architectural interest from across the country are eligible for funding from IGS London. Closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm Monday 20th February. Garden Bird Survey reminder
Birdwatch Ireland asked us to remind members of the public that they can still help with the Garden Bird Survey until February by keeping note of the highest number of each bird species visiting their garden each week. Museum Basics online course – expressions of interest sought
The Irish Museums Association (IMA) is inviting for expressions of interest to participate in their established Museum Basics online course, aimed at enhancing skills of staff and volunteers, primarily working in community and volunteer-led museums or cultural heritage organisations, during March (dates to be confirmed). Cost: €40 for IMA individual members, €100 for non-members. Closing date for receipt of expressions of interest is Wednesday 8th February 2023.
