National Heritage Week 2023
National Heritage Week will take place from 12th – 20th August 2023. This year’s theme is ‘Living Heritage’, which will celebrate the practices, knowledge and skills that have been passed from one generation to the next, and are still in use today. Under this theme, events and projects will be encouraged to examine intangible practises, knowledge and skills shared from one generation to the next. The Heritage Week team will host two Free in-person Training & Networking Days for event organisers on Thursday 20th April in Clonmel and Thursday 27th April in Tullamore.  Free events but places are limited. The Heritage Council joins Climate Heritage Network
The Heritage Council recently joined over 90 other heritage organisations across the globe in becoming a member of the Climate Heritage Network (CHN). The network’s purpose is to mobilise the art, culture and heritage sectors to drive climate action. As a member of the CHN, the Heritage Council will collaborate with other heritage organisations worldwide, sharing knowledge and expertise to address the cultural dimensions of climate change. Kilkenny Castle Sensory Friendly Tours during April 2023
OPW Kilkenny Castle continue their Sensory Friendly Tours on Sunday 9th & 16th April. This is a unique opportunity for people with sensory needs and their family to view the Victorian period rooms in a quiet environment. Bealtaine May 2023
Bealtaine 2023 was launched recently and is Ireland’s national celebration of the arts and creativity as we age, funded by the Arts Council and the HSE, and supported by communities nationwide and a vast and accomplished array of local and national bodies. In addition to the national programme, which is curated directly by Age & Opportunity, Bealtaine includes hundreds of community events across the country.
