County Kilkenny Holy Wells Survey

Holy wells are sacred places in the local landscape and are held dear by communities. The traditions, and customs surrounding holy wells are recognised as being an important part of our intangible cultural heritage, and are in danger of being lost as older generations pass on. Kilkenny Heritage Office is conducting a county wide survey and we need your help to record holy wells around the county and the traditions associated with them. If there is a holy well that you visit, please get in touch with us at holywells.shanarc@gmail.com to tell us all about it or share your story with us on the ‘Holy Wells of Kilkenny’ Facebook page. This is an action of the Kilkenny Heritage Plan and is supported by the Heritage Council and Kilkenny County Council.
