Cruinniú na nÓg
Minister Madigan announced a programme of over 300 free child-centered events as part of Cruinniú na nÓg, a Creative Ireland programme, which will take place on 23rd June in local towns and neighbourhoods across the country. In Kilkenny an exciting line up of events has been organised across Kilkenny Library Service, in the Barnstorm Theatre and in the Design and Craft Council of Ireland, Castle yard. Athassel Abbey

Lá na mBan
Kilkenny Archaeological Society has launched a project called Lá na mBan which centres around the 1015 women who marched through Kilkenny on 9th June 1918 opposing conscription to the British army. They are hoping to collect stories and photographs of these women. Maybe one of your ancestors was involved. Community Enhancement Programme
The Department of Rural and Community Development operates a capital grant programme, through the Local Community Development Committees, to provide funding to enhance facilities in disadvantaged communities. Additional funding for the ‘Ciste 125’
An additional €26,000 has been approved by Minister of State McHugh for the ‘Ciste 125’ initiative under Bliain Na Gaeilge 2018. A €125,000 was originally put aside under Ciste125 but due to high demand a further €26,000 was allocated. These grants were available to groups, organisations, committees and clubs who wished to organise an event or project on the ground for Bliain na Gaeilge 2018 and the promotion of the Irish language. www.gaeilge2018.ie
